TRAUMA-INFORMED COUNSELING IN KERRVILLE, TEXAS
There's more to your story than what you've been through.
At Re.New Psychology & Counseling Associates, we work with children, teens, adults, and families navigating trauma, complicated relationships, and experiences that continue to affect everyday life.
A LITTLE ABOUT OUR APPROACH
We know what brings you to therapy is rarely the whole story.
Sometimes the things we're struggling with today have roots in experiences from years ago. Other times, life has simply become difficult to manage, and we're not quite sure how we got here.
We've spent years working with people and families whose lives have been shaped by trauma, loss, disrupted relationships, and circumstances outside their control. That experience has taught us how important it is to understand the person sitting in front of us, rather than focusing only on a diagnosis or a list of symptoms.
We offer a place to talk about what's happened, understand how it's affecting you now, and figure out what moving forward can look like.
HOW WE CAN HELP
Different experiences call for different kinds of support.
There's no single way trauma affects a person, and there isn't one approach to therapy that works for everyone. Our work integrates years of experience supporting children, adults, and families through a wide range of circumstances.
-
Trauma can affect how we feel about ourselves, how we connect with other people, and how safe we feel in everyday situations. We work with people navigating both recent traumatic experiences and patterns that have developed over many years.
-
EMDR is an evidence-based approach that helps people process distressing experiences and reduce the impact those memories continue to have. Sessions are available in person and through a secure virtual platform when clinically appropriate.
-
Children and teenagers often communicate distress differently than adults. We work with young people and their families to better understand what's happening, strengthen relationships, and navigate difficult experiences together.
-
Adoption, foster care, and family separation can involve complicated experiences of belonging, loss, trust, and connection. We bring extensive experience working with children, parents, foster families, and individuals whose lives have been shaped by these systems.
-
Substance use and trauma often overlap in ways that aren't always immediately obvious. Our approach considers the experiences, relationships, and circumstances surrounding substance use, rather than looking at the behavior in isolation.
GET TO KNOW US
We've spent a lot of time listening to people's stories. It's shaped the way we practice.
Re.New Psychology & Counseling Associates brings decades of combined experience working with children, adults, and families navigating trauma, complicated relationships, and major life challenges.
Our work is grounded in understanding the experiences that shape people and taking the time to get to know the person beyond their circumstances.
WHAT WORKING TOGETHER CAN LOOK LIKE
You don't have to know exactly where to start.
Some people come to therapy knowing exactly what they want to work on. Others have a general sense that something isn't right, but aren't sure how to explain it.
We'll spend time getting to know you, understanding what's been difficult, and talking through what you'd like to be different. Depending on your needs, therapy may involve EMDR, trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy, or other individualized approaches.”.
You won't be expected to have everything figured out before your first appointment.
